News from Delaware County Community College (DCCC)

The Uniquely Abled Academy (UAA) is an innovative career training program designed to empower neurodiverse individuals – such as those on the autism spectrum – by preparing them for skilled employment in the manufacturing sector.

This 16-week program combines hands-on instruction in Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining with job readiness training, including soft skills development and interview preparation.

Graduates of the program often earn industry-recognized certifications, such as OSHA Safety Certificates and National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) credentials, qualifying them for entry-level positions like CNC operator.

COURSES:

MTT 108 Math for Occupational Technologies

3 credits/ 60 hours

This course is designed to provide the student with relevant theory and skills in solving practical,

industrially based mathematical problems. Topics of instruction will include, but will not be limited to, calculating arithmetic expressions involving whole numbers, fractions, decimals, ratio, proportion, and percentages. CRN 1972

MTT 111 Introduction to Manufacturing

3 credits/ 60 hours

This course provides an introduction to the field of manufacturing/machining. The course is designed to provide instruction in the commonalties of theory and skills associated with various branches of the manufacturing industry. CRN 1974

TCS 105 Workplace Safety

2 credits/ 45 hours

This course is designed to provide students’ with a general awareness on recognition, avoidance, abatement and prevention of safety and health hazards in the workplace. CRN 1976

MTT 110 Print Layout/Measurement for Machining

4 credits/ 60 hours

This introductory course is designed to provide instruction in the theory and skills necessary to read conventional drawings commonly used in the machining industry. Term 2: Spring 2026

TME 111 Machining Technology

3 credits/ 60 hours

This course provides an introduction to the knowledge and skills associated with various conventional chip making machine tools, their design, application, set-up and operation.

Term 2: Spring 2026

MTT 210 CNC Machine Tool Operations

3 credits/ 60 hours

This course is designed to provide appropriately prepared conventional machine tool operators with an introduction to Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) machine tool set-up and operation.

Term 2: Spring 2026

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Competence in organizational skills that reflect the ability to function independently in social and academic settings.
  • Exhibit competence in math, reading, and computer
  • Be at least 18 years old and take part in an onsite
SCHEDULE:

Term 1: (CRN 1972, CRN 1974, CRN 1976)

September 2, 2025 – December 4, 2025

Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri:  12:00 – 2:30 PM.

Term 2:

Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri:  12:00 – 2:30 PM.

Tuition and fees: $3999.00
