This contest is such a rewarding experience for local 8th graders, their teacher, and for the manufacturers they work with. The teacher coaches and students are excited about the opportunity to meet manufacturers, interview employers in various roles, and hone in on their tech skills as they create an awesome 2 min video showcasing careers in manufacturing!
WSCM 2025 included 10 teams of 8th grade students partnered with a local manufacturer. We celebrated everyone’s fantastic work at the WSCM Awards Ceremony on April 10 at Penn State Great Valley emceed by Fox29’s Meteorologist Drew Anderson. More than 150 students, parents and educators explored the Manufacturer Expo, enjoyed delicious treats, walked the red carpet, and cheered on the winners in 7 award categories.
Currently, we are recruiting manufacturers for the 2026 contest to pair with 8th grade teams! What about you, are YOU in for WSCM 2026?! This year happens to be our 11th anniversary!!!
You may or may not know, but this experience is an exciting one and helps open the eyes of youth in our community. If you are new to the contest or need a refresher about the process, I am more than happy to jump on a call with you. The cost of the program is $750 and the project:
– Creates regional awareness of careers in manufacturing
– Promotes potential career opportunities to peers through video messages
– Connects manufacturing companies with educators
– Demonstrates to students what a job in manufacturing is like!
The timeline runs from November 2025 through April 2026.
